The Banco Unión, with a state-owned majority, reprogrammed 80,000 microcredits from clients in the small and medium enterprise sector. The Government also reported that, together with the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), it is analyzing the possibility of creating a monetary fund to support this sector, as part of the measures to mitigate the effects of the health crisis caused by the coronavirus.

Government Injects $22.4m into El Alto’s Economy for Quarantine
The Government will inject Bs 156 million ($22.4 mn) in one month to the economy of the city of El Alto for the total quarantine stage, through the Family and Family Basket Bonds.
The government recognizes $107.7 mn debt with construction companies
The Government recognized that the State has a debt of Bs 750 million ($107.7 mn) with the construction sector. They also paid debts of Bs 800 million ($115 mn) to the Bolivian Highway Administration. A second debt and payroll rescheduling are underway.
The INE reports a price increase of 0.12% in March
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered in March a positive percentage variation of 0.12% compared to February and a cumulative difference in three months of 0.02%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
International soybean price rises 8%, and harvest advances 70%
In the last 15 days, the price of soybeans in Chicago had an increase of approximately 8% to $325 per ton, a situation that represents a relief for Bolivian producers who report a 70% advance in the 2019-2020 summer crop, of the 1,020,000 hectares planted. The drought recorded in the current campaign will affect a drop in yields, as it is estimated to close with an average of 1.9 and 2 tons per hectare, similar to last year.
