Soybean agribusinesses ask for sector-deregulation as prices hit $440/ton

Soybeans are registering record prices, $440 per ton, the highest value on the international market since August 2014. The country’s productive and industrial actors in the oilseed sector are calling for public policies to promote exports without restrictions or quotas, and access to the use of genetically improved seeds to increase productivity and competitiveness. The surplus of the 2019-2020 summer cycle -after 800,000 tons to cover the domestic market- may generate between 800 million and one billion dollars for exports.
