The National Customs together with the Armed Forces achieved the seizure of 19,200 units of smuggled Brazilian beer, in a truck intercepted near Villa Montes, department of Tarija. The operation was carried out in the community of Arenales, near the Customs Inspection Point of Villa Montes.

Government proposes to return 5% for invoices up to $1,300
The Government will promote the return of 5% of the tax credit for the accumulation in invoices of up to BS 9,000 ($1,300). The benefit will reach all natural persons, employed and self-employed, who present invoices for an amount equal to or less than that indicated in the norm.
Individuals with more than $4.4 mn in wealth will pay wealth tax
Individuals with a fortune greater than BS 30 million ($4.4 million) will pay the new wealth tax (IGF) that the government plans to implement. According to the bill, the rates are progressive, ranging from 1.4%, 1.9% and 2.4% depending on the amount of the fortune.
Bolivian cement demand down 13% in September
Cement consumption in Bolivia dropped 12.6% year on year to 337,063t in September 2020 from 385,624t in September 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, INE. In the first nine months of 2020 the Bolivian cement market contracted by 33% year on year to 1.977Mt from 2.952Mt in the same period of 2019.
Bolivia lost 27% of its Amazon forest between 2000 and 2018
Bolivia lost 27$ of its Amazon forest cover to fires from 2000 to 2018, said a study from the Amazon Geo-Referenced Socio-Environmental Information Network (RAISG). The report covers the whole Amazon region that is shared by Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana and the territory of French Guiana. RAISG said that between 2000 and 2018 the Amazon region lost 8% or 513,016 square kilometres of its rainforest to fires.
