Asoban: Banks stopped receiving about $4bn for deferment of credit payments
The deferral applied in 2020 in credit quotas payment meant that banks did not receive at least $4 billion in capital and interest. If the deadline extends, as demanded by various sectors, it would be a further blow to the financial system, warned the Association of Private Banks of Bolivia (Asoban).
Forest exports increased by 16.3% despite the COVID-19 crisis, reaching $64mn
Despite the economic crisis caused by COVID-19, forestry entrepreneurs report that last year the sector's sales increased by 16.3% compared to 2019. The value of exports rose to $64 million in 2020 compared to $55 million in 2019. China accounts for 29.8% of total forest product exports, while the United States accounts for 20.8%.
Government increased to $12mn resources for road contingencies due to rain
The Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC), informed this Monday that the Government has increased the resources to attend to the country's rainy season and any contingency that may arise on the roads of the Fundamental Road Network (RVF) from Bs 46 million ($6.6 mn) to Bs 84 million ($12 mn).
Marcelo Gonzales appointed President of YLB with the challenge of industrialise Bolivia’s lithium
Marcelo Gabino Gonzales Saique appointed on Monday as the new executive president of Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB). He will have the mission of reactivating the process of industrialization of lithium, which has not taken off for 13 years in the country. Marcelo Gonzales has extensive experience in the area and YLB.
Regional and local governments receive only 8.7% of the national budget
The departmental and municipal autonomous governments administer less than 10% of the state budget and must face the pandemic's resurgence this year with more significant needs and obligations, while the central level left with more than 90% of the resources. This year the country's 337 municipalities will administer 5.7% of the entire budget, while the country's nine departments manage 3%.
